Jay: 'Login incorrect' or 'The email address and password you entered don't match' or 'There's an error with your login info' followed by 'What's this?' would still be better than Google's example, which simply tells me the email address doesn't exist. I know it exists; it's my email address. :-)

this is probably the same reason unix would say "login incorrect" on any login/username problem. it can be considered information disclosure to announce that yes, this account exists, you got the password wrong (do try again).

That's the whole thing: the email address is correct, but the password isn't. Yet it gives me the error that the email address is incorrect. :-)

Maybe there is a registered user at blogger who uses the mistyped e-mail-address? Because if you type something glibberish into the username field, at least I do get a correct error message.
