I/Gino am headed to Flickr

I’m happy totally stoked to announce that in a couple of weeks I will be joining the Flickr team. I’ll be leading interaction design efforts along with George and Stewart; Stewart is still Our Big Boss who wears the Big Hats. Rumor is that my first task will be to finally bring the Tuna Blaster™ product into the public light.

A few months back (nearly six to the day) Stewart put up a help wanted sign, and shortly thereafter we had coffee, or lunch. I can’t quite remember at this point; we did both several times, come to think of it. It took a little while to get some things sorted out inside the Yahoo! Machine, but here we are about to close out 2006, and I couldn’t be more pleased to be joining the team.

Flickr is the only other Online Thing I use on a daily basis besides Firefox and Mail. I’m a fan - a true Flickr nerd. And for those reasons I can’t think of any other place I’d rather think hard about people, products, and the meaningful connections I can make between them.

Rock!

wohooo - I wrote a very flattering and celebratory post about my good friend Gino getting a role with Flickr. Like him, I’m a fan + nerd. Even had a login to GameNeverending. But I decided that while I’m stoked about Gino’s new role - the message might not get through if I’m too busy slapping him on the back. The message being that its important, if not vital, to be doing something meaningful and positive, with good people like yourself should you get the chance.

If you don’t get the chance - then make as much money as you can.

    Congratulations G.

First let me say a big WHATEVER, cuz I am so NOT stoked that you’re leaving Yahoo! Travel. I really don’t know what I’m going to do with myself without your attitude problem to deal with everyday. But in all seriousness, congratulations. It really is awesome. Which brings me to my second point….where will you be fitting in this lineup??

  3. Gino Zahnd says:

The feeling is mutual. I’ll certainly miss your attitude problem as well; but the Zahnds and the Cooper will have more occasion to have frosty beverages, so it all works out in the end. And I suppose I’ll have to start lifting weights before they’ll let me in that lineup; but I believe I’m taller than Stewart, and maybe about the same as Aaron.

    Congrats G.
Flickr has been creating a new standard in interaction design, so Flickr + Gino = well, revolucionario. I’m looking forward to putting a few thousand more photos in Flickrlandia. Have fun. And welcome to San Francisco!
